The trio of bills signed by the president look to help police officers, law enforcement agents and other first responders in a variety of areas, including injury benefits and peer support.
President Joe Biden signed three bills Thursday to help police, law enforcement and other first responders.
Here's a breakdown of the pieces of legislation that Biden signed into law during a ceremony, according to the White House:
Protecting America's First Responders Act: Expands requirements and increases certain benefits under the Public Safety Officers’ Benefits Program so that officers injured in the line of duty receive their benefits quickly.
Confidentiality Opportunities for Peer Support Counseling Act: Prohibits Federal law enforcement officers from disclosing the contents of peer support communications and requires the Justice Department to develop a report on best practices and professional standards for peer support counseling programs for first responder agencies.
